Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter (born Holly Hunter) is an American actor and producer. She is gaining recognition for her exceptional roles in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Piano, as well as The Incredibles. The film Piano won her several awards, among them an Oscar. Her career began acting as an actress both on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. In her early years, Helen Keller was her most loved character from a fifth grade production. She became deaf in one ear following a bout of mumps but did not allow this handicap to hinder her desire to be an actress. As a young woman she studied drama in college and moved from Pittsburgh to New York City from Pittsburgh to pursue her ambitions. Hunter was trapped in the elevator of the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They collaborated to create Broadway Crimes of the Heart that marked the debut of Hunter on Broadway. After moving to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to find movie roles. A supporting role was found for Swing Shift. Since then, she has appeared in several films, TV series as well as movies throughout the span of a 30-year career. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has also won the Women in Film Lucy Award.
