Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is known for her acclaimed roles in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. She has won many awards for her performance, including an Oscar. Her career began as an actor on Broadway and Off Broadway. As a child, Helen Keller was her most loved character from a fifth year show. The mumps caused her to lose hearing in one of her ear, however this didn't stop the actress from following her dreams. In her early years, she took classes in drama at college and moved from Pittsburgh to New York City from Pittsburgh to pursue her ambitions. In a chance encounter she became stuck in an elevator alongside playwright Beth Henley and the two collaborated in the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart that was Hunter's first performance. She relocated from New York to Los Angeles and tried to find films roles. The film, Swing Shift, she landed the role of a back-up. Over the past three decades Holly Hunter has been on many TV and film shows. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was also awarded her the Women in Film Lucy Award.
